Monster Season is officially open.
The Obsidian Flame Society has unveiled its Halloween Romance Collection, Monsters in Moonlight, with the first book—Labyrinth’s Heart by Jaylee Austin—released on September 16. The series promises a parade of creatures both fearsome and alluring, each arriving in weekly succession through Halloween.
“Romance has always thrived on the edge of the unknown,” said a spokesperson for the Obsidian Flame Society. “This collection invites readers to step into the shadows and find love where they least expect it—in the arms of monsters.”
Labyrinth’s Heart introduces readers to Cins, a Goblin Queen whose secrets twist tighter than the maze she rules. Its tagline warns: When every secret unravels, the truth becomes the biggest twist.
Each week will unveil a new tale of forbidden passion and supernatural peril:
- Sept 23 – In My Veins by Tegan Lleuad, where vampire Kiara discovers that “He is her mortal fascination. She is his eternal complication.”
- Oct 7 – A Tangle of Vipers by B.L. Lucas, a dark, spicy romance featuring Dante, a paragon bound by duty: What is worse than being forced to marry your enemy? Falling in love with him—and his monster.
- Oct 14 – Auctioned to the Orc Warrior by Brie Blackmore, a tale wrapped in secrecy, where even the monster’s name remains concealed.
- Oct 21 – Shift in the Heart by R.M. Fire, with Hoff, a helldog shifter whose loyalty and ferocity ignite more than one kind of fire.
- Oct 28 – Savage Harvest by Natasha Wilco, in which Cyrus, a Harvest King, is entangled in destiny: She needs a coven. He needs revenge. Neither of them can afford to fall in love.
Together, these romances showcase the full spectrum of the monstrous and the magical: vampires, goblins, shifters, orcs, and kings who are more than human. Each story stands alone but resonates as part of a larger celebration of Halloween’s dark delights.
The Monsters in Moonlight collection will continue releasing every Tuesday through October. Readers are invited to embrace the season, surrender to the shadows, and discover that sometimes the most dangerous creatures are the ones we cannot help but love.
